Long-term care facilities participating in Medicare and Medicaid must meet certain federal requirements necessary to assure the health and safety of individuals to whom services are furnished. There are specific federal regulations related to the Quality Measures. This section contains information, published by the Centers for Medicare, & Medicaid Services (CMS), for use in the long term care inspection process
The information provided in this overview is taken from a letter to State CMS Survey Agency Directors from the Director of the Survey and Certification Group at CMS. The letter is dated January 23, 2009 and introduced the updates for long-term care surveyors on F-Tag 309 which included a general investigative protocol and new pain management guidance and investigative protocol.
Powerpoint slides covering CMS F-Tag 309. Each of the presentations contains only the slides, there is no narration, nor are there any notes. These were developed in preparation for the 2009 roll-out of the F-Tag and MDS 3.0. Consider using these 'as-is' presentations as a quick overview for new MDS nurses.
